A Wiring Harness Manufacturers Association consisting of about 150 wiring harness industry manufacturers, assemblers and suppliers.
Project Objective
Provide value to the association's members through the website, and reduce the resources required for association administration. Make the website a selling point for association membership.
Project Solution
The primary focus of the project was to create value to the members through the website. To most effectively provide this, a member's only secure section of the website was created.
Through discussions with the association and it's members, it was determined that the most benefit to members would be served by an on-line marketplace for members to sell their excess inventory.
An online system was created to allow members to easily post various products for sale. Additionally a job posting board and a group email distribution where created for added member benefit.
One area of concern for the association members was the availability of the membership roster. The roster reflected on the previous website was often out-of-date. Our solution to this problem was to tie the web site's membership roster directly to the association's membership database. The web site membership directory is now updated in real-time.
The association management staff indicated that there was a great deal of manual effort involved with enrolling new members, registering event attendees and sponsors, and purchasing items offered by the association. These processes were automated by means of providing on-line forms and applications.
Finally, we identified the opportunity for the association to generate some revenue on the website by offering paid advertising to suppliers wishing to market to the association. All together this solution allowed the association to get a return on investment beyond a static website.
